All About Bethlehem UMC
Our Mission & Vision
Our vision…
To share God’s Word and God’s love with our community;
To worship God regularly;
and to give all thanks and praise to God.
Our mission…
is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Our Church History
Bethlehem UMC was recognized as an active Methodist congregation in 1789, becoming the first Methodist church in the southern part of Gloucester County. A “great revival” was said to have resulted upon recognition, with many new members “struggling into life.”¹ The first meeting house was constructed in 1808.
We have been “The heart, hands, and feet of Christ to the community” for over 230 years.
